Country and Region:
Leone de Castris
Grape Varieties :
Primitivo grapes are hand harvested at the beginning of September from 10 year old vines. The grapes are vinified traditionally in stainless steel tanks for around 12 days and aged for only around two months in French oak barrels. The wine spends a further 2 months in the bottle before release.
A great example of this classic Southern Italian red. Meaning 'Early Ripening' in Italian for its ability to accumulate a lot of sugar early in the growing season, Primitivo is the same grape as Zinfandel.
