[TH] Carmenere Peumo, Cachapoal Valley, Viña Undurraga
Deep carmine red in colour, this wine reveals the herbal and spicy notes characteristic of Carménère, contributing to the character of this variety. After some aeration, these notes give way to an intense expression of red and black fruit, such as raspberries and blackberries, accompanied by subtle notes of bitter chocolate and pepper. In the mouth, this wine is medium-bodied and well-structured. Its lively, vibrant acidity lends it a fresh, juicy feel with smooth tannins and a long finish.

Country and Region: Chile,Cachapoal Valley

Classification: D.O Cachapoal Valley

Producer: T.H (Terroir Hunter)

Wine Style: Red

Grape Varieties : Carmenere

Vinification: The grapes were carefully transported to the cellar, where they underwent a rigorous selection process to ensure that only mature, healthy clusters passed to the destemming stage and then to the manual selection table. Unripened, sun-dried and dehydrated grapes were removed. After crushing, the grapes were cold macerated in anaerobic conditions before being inoculated with selected yeasts. Fermentation took place at 28°C – 30°C for 18 days, with remontage carried out three or four times each day. The wine was then left in contact with its lees and skins for another 10 days to improve its structure. It was then aged in French oak barrels, 15% of which were new, for 14 months. The final blend consisted of 100% Carménère from this vineyard in Peumo.

ABV: 13.5%

Closure: Natural Cork

Note: An innovative project focusing on the unique topography of Chile. T.H stands for Terroir Hunter and brings together a range of wines from across Chile developed to emphasize the diversity of climate and ‘terroir’. 5,000 kilometres long with a dramatic landscape that stretches from sea level to mountain ranges as high as 6,000 metres, the potential to produce wine beyond the traditional Central Valley is enormous and T.H is at the forefront of this quest to explore new winemaking regions. Moving far away from the trend towards standardized ‘big taste’ ‘over-ripe’ wines, T.H wines are made with minimum intervention and a conscious respect for the environment, in limited volumes. They truly represent Chilean diversity and regional differences favouring freshness, character and purity. The breathtaking quality of the wines is matched by the many accolades they receive. For Lo Abarca Sauvignon Blanc; Chilean White Trophy at the 2014 IWC, Wine & Spirits’ Best New World Sauvignon Blanc 2014, Gold Medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards. For the Syrah Leyda; Gold at the IWC 2015 and Gold Medal and International Trophy Winner at the IWC 2015 for the T.H Cabernet Sauvignon.
