Grape Varieties :
Merlot | Sangiovese
Selected from the best Sangiovese grapes in Donna Laura’s vineyards, Bramosia undergoes a temperature-controlled fermentation with frequent remontage. 10% of the wine is aged in tonneaux for 9 months and the rest sees only stainless steel tanks. 15% Merlot is added to the blend before bottling.
Owned by the Tolaini family, the Donna Laura winery is named in honour of Lia Tolaini’s, beloved aunt ‘Laura’ who nurtured Lia’s love and appreciation of Italy. Meaning ‘desire’, the label for Bramosia Chianti Classico was inspired by one of Laura’s favourite pieces of art, a painting of Bacchus, Cupid and Venus by Dutch artist Hendrick Goltzius. The Donna Laura wines are a blend of two Sangiovese clones, CH-20 brings structure, while F9, a more modern clone, augments the fruit intensity. A portion of the grapes come from the Tolaini vineyards and the Donna Laura wines are vinified at Tolaini’s state-of-the-art winery. As a result, the winemaker’s expertise alongside the innovative equipment and techniques in the winery produce an outstanding wine at an affordable price point.
