Located in the foothills of the central Apennines, an area known as the Tosco-Romagnolo, Torre is an exciting new winery recently established by the Costa family.
Situated 300 metres above sea level, the estate encompasses 70 hectares of woodland, olive groves and 10 hectares of vineyards. Extensive research and development in the vineyards found some vines dating back to 1922.
Terroir is key at Torre with particular attention paid to the relationship between land, climate and the unique characteristics of the Sangiovese di Romagna grape.
This young winery is already building a respected reputation and winning awards. The 2011 vintage ‘Vigna 1922’ picked up Tre Bicchieri (Three Glasses) at the Gambero Rosso 2015 and was awarded ‘Grande Vino’ at Slow Wine 2015. This year has proved consistent with ‘Gemme’ 2014 picking up a Tre Bicchieri at the Gambero Rosso. www.torre1922.co
