The Livon family company is fairly new in terms of production when in 1964 Dorino Livon bought his first vineyard on the hills of the Collio and gradually added more to that. The farm grew year on year and after Dorino built his own wine cellar, his two sons joined the business in the 1980's and started to diversify the production of wines. The 263 hectares property, including two wineries, lies between the towns of Chiopris and Viscone on a large plain which is rich in iron and alluvial soils. The plain extends from the edge of the Veneto region in the west and the Colli Orientali del Friuli region in the east with the Moreniche hills to the North. Each winery is equipped with the latest modern wine making facilities and barrique ageing cellars thus allowing the wine makers to express the surrounding vineyard's individual characteristics to the full. The quality of Livon wines are recognised internationally and consistently by the Gambero Rosso.
