Rocca di Castagnoli
Italy - Tuscany
Web site: http://www.roccadicastagnoli.com

The village of Castagnoli has existed since the Early Middle Ages. In the 1700's under the management of the Templi family, it became one of the most celebrated estates in the Florence region. Located in the high altitude Gaiole district of Chianti, with hectares of vineyards stretching out into the Castellina district of the Chianti Classico DOCG, Rocca di Castagnoli is possibly the largest estate in the Chianti zone under vine. Established in 1983, the Calì family have invested heavily in the vineyards and winery in recent years, equipping the Estate with stainless steel tanks storing up to 10,000 hectolitres, automated fermentation controls to programme the entire winemaking process, an intimate Tuscan restaurant, and a four star agri-turismo. Despite these advances, the patient and painstaking art of producing quality wines remains the same. The family, under the watchful eye of winemakers Beppe Caviola and Maurizio Alongi, only bottle the best from each vintage to achieve great wines with typical regional characteristics. Alongside the superb Chiantis, some of the best vineyards are set aside for the production of the Estate's famous Super Tuscan wines; Stielle, Buriano and Le Pratola.
