'Vigna Novali' Castelli di Jesi Verdicchio DOCG Riserva, Moncaro
'Vigna Novali' Castelli di Jesi Verdicchio DOCG Riserva, Moncaro
Dense straw yellow in colour with green notes. On ageing, the wine develops a golden-yellow hue. On the nose the wine is incredibly intense with strong fruity aromas lifted by hints of citrus, honey and floral notes. Dry but ultra smooth and soft on the palate. The generous alcoholic warmth doesn’t take away from the crisp, fresh acidity. Vigna Novali is a remarkable example of the potential of the Verdicchio grape.

Vinification: The single ‘Novali’ vineyard is located in Castelplanio. The Verdicchio grapes for Vigna Novali are among the last to be picked towards the end of the end of the harvest period, some are already over-ripe with Noble Rot. On arrival at the winery, the must is given a brief maceration on the skins and then the grapes are gently pressed and ‘settle’ using gravity only. The fermentation process then begins with the introduction of cultured yeasts. After fermentation, Vigna Novali matures partly in tank and partly in Allier Oak barrique for 10 months. The final blend is then made and the wine is bottled, spending a further 18 months here before release.
