The Carta family have been producing wine in the beautiful coastal town of Oristano since the early 1950’s. Founder Silvio Carta initially vinified the local grape Vernaccia, cultivated historically from wild vines of the Tirso Valley in Sardinia, to a high quality. In the mid 1980’s, Silvio’s son Elio joined his father after graduating university with a degree in viticulture. It was from then the company began producing alongside its winemaking, premium level spirits and liquors. Some of these were infused with essential oils from typical, indigenous Sardinian plants that surrounded the winery in Baratili San
Pietro. Over the years, the company has instigated an ethos of combining tradition and innovation culminating in the recent opening of a new, state of the art distillery in Zeddiani in the heart of Oristano. This modern approach is also echoed in the eye-catching packaging of the Carta range of wine and liquors.
